Bad Feng ShuiThe realists' guide to Feng Shui Newton stated, "Absolute space, in its own nature, without relation to anything external, remains always similar and immovable." ...... Einstein went against this by saying in his Special Theory of Relativity, which demonstrates that measurements of time and distance vary systematically as anything moves relative to anything else. Which means that Newton was wrong. Space and time are not absolute - and the relativistic universe we inhabit is not the one Newton "discovered." ...... It has also been said that chaos is bounded by rules, but what does all this mean? It means to be in harmony with the fluid nature of the universe you first need to understand it and its rules. For example in architecture, you must understand the harmonics and lineaments in the relationship between a building and its surroundings. In the days when these things were of most importance it was of course a lot more simple as the majority of buildings only had one room and thus one door. ...... You should not wander around blindly grasping for anything labelled Feng Shui, be it in a bookshop or online. This label far from guarantees that the book is of any relevance or has any grounding in Feng Shui. It has been shown that Chinese scholars knew and understood a lot more than today's so-called 'experts' in this field. A lot of books on the subject contain new age marketing, simple pop psychobabble and a 'McBagua' type of Feng Shui, as another author puts it. This is the new age of Feng Shui developed over the last two decades or so - the Big Mac and fries of Feng Shui. This is a one-solution for everyone kind of thing, which in reality does not work. ...... You should stay away from books such as 'Taoist Feng Shui', 'Feng Shui for dummies', 'Move your stuff change your life', 'Feng Shui book of cures', '101 Feng Shui tips for the home' etc. ...... These are badly researched and generally Americanised/Westernised (read: simplified) versions of Feng Shui. These are truly great examples of pseudo-Feng Shui, which claims to be something it is not. If you read of such things as mirrors, flutes, red packets and so on improving the flow of 'chi' in a house, steer well clear. These types of writers rarely know incorrectly used Wu Xing (Five Elements) can be a bad thing. ...... If you do choose to have a Feng Shui consultation, please remember that you have rights, even when dealing with such people. You have the right to:
...... You are encouraged to choose professionals who uphold the rights listed above and who also (a) Treat you with respect and (b) Explain your service options, including their consequences and any follow-up services which may be required or recommended. ...... Most Western ideas about Feng Shui are utterly wrong and generally based on a variety of weird concepts pulled from European folklore, New Age marketing, pop culture and various other nonsensical things. It is all about what is fashionable, sadly in the last few years Feng Shui has become very fashionable. Following its emergence into popular culture it has been bastardised by those wishing to make money from it and adopted by people jumping on the bandwagon all over the world. Out of the entire scientific system, only a fragment of actual Feng Shui knowledge has reached the public. Despite all of the books rushing into print claiming "Feng Shui this" and "Feng Shui that," the theoretical depth and full potential of the authentic material remain virtually unknown to the public. ...... It is common to find such simple concepts as 1) When you enter a house, the right hand corner on the other end of the house is the wealth corner. 'Sheng chi' entering a house goes in the clockwise direction until it reaches the furthermost corner and stays there. Therefore this is the wealth corner and 2) In the New Age Ba Gua, the wealth station is one of the eight life stations. These sadly are very wrong, but epitomize the new age Feng Shui that is practised all over the world today. ...... Avoid anything telling you that mirrors can reflect 'Shar Chi' or in fact change anything - it is only wishful thinking. Some ancient Feng Shui rules can also be revised. The toilet is no longer a dirty place and teaching that it should not be flushed as it flushes away wealth is simply irresponsible.
...... The moral of the story being, BE CAREFUL. ...... There are a lot of people out there after your money, do a bit of research and you will find the right path.
